Meet the landlady
My name is Natalie and I am the landlady of
The Cavalier.
My partner Matthew helps me with the day to day running and we have a fab little team behind us.
This isn't my first rodeo, I've managed pubs and bars previously. You may recognise me from
The Blacksmiths in Bideford, where I was manager for about 8 years (also
Crabby Dicks, The Barton, The Fairway Buoy, The Golden Lion, The Anchor to name just a few), before I left to teach Hospitailty NVQ's for NDC/Petroc.
I left the pub trade when my kids were growing up. Once I gave up working at the college, I went to work in addiction rehab, before working in housing and then starting my own business:
Hare To Organise
My kids have now grown up - Lauren, now 26, works here in the kitchen (and occasionally in the bar) and Owen, 19, is a carpenter.
After almost two years of major illness and being unable to return to my business, I decided to go back to my roots in the bar. And where better to run than the place that's kept me sane during cancer (I worked when I was feeling well to keep me feeling 'normal')!
It's been great to take over where I already know people and just grow the business. I'm very much a people person and a pub to me, should be the hub of the community - a safe place; somewhere you want to come and eat, drink and have fun with friends and family.
This pub is definitely a 'proper pub' and the potential is endless. Watch this space!
